Freesat notches up a million customers

24 March 2010

As it passed the milestone of one million customers, free-to-view satellite TV service Freesat claimed 40 per cent have come from Sky homes.

“Hitting one million sales is significant for Freesat and gives us a great foundation for further growth, specifically with the millions of UK homes that have HDTVs but no HD service,” said Freesat managing director Emma Scott.

In fact, next year Astra 1N will be launched offering increased transponder capacity with a UK only spot beam and allowing Freesat, among other things, to broadcast more HD channels.
